Steve Williams’s Viking Sound & light provided the audio system for Sting’s celebration party, following the musician’s honorary doctorate of music awarded by the University of Newcastle.

Held at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, just across the river Tyne in Gateshead, Viking Sound & Light supplied a compact FOH system encom-passing two Turbosound TQ-445DP’s and two TQ-425’s to act as the ideal P.A.

Entertainment was provided by The Gerry Richardson Trio and various members of The Newcastle Big Band, an out fit whom Sting often played with before being catapulted to fame with The Police. Williams is pictured here with a certain Gorden Sumner
